Svetlana Shuster, who is a partner at Avelino Law, LLP, focuses her practice on all aspects of estate planning and estate and trust administration. Lana assists individuals, couples, and families with developing estate plans for the orderly transfer of assets during life and upon death, emphasizing the preservation and protection of wealth through the minimization of gift, inheritance, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax liability. Recognizing that the goals and needs of each individual differ, she meticulously customizes every estate plan to ensure that it accurately reflects the client’s goals and priorities. Planning for the future can be a complex and emotional process and she approaches each situation with compassion, sensitivity, and a deep understanding of the law.

In addition to her proficiency in estate planning, Lana has significant experience in all aspects of estate and trust administration. Always cognizant of the difficulties and emotional hardship that the loss of a loved one can bring, her guidance throughout the estate administration process provides her clients with support during a delicate time, and helps families navigate the complications of wealth transition and asset division while carrying out the wishes of their loved one. Lana is also adept at mitigating interfamily disputes and creating practical solutions to challenging problems and has successfully resolved numerous estate and gift tax audits.

In addition to estate planning and administration, Lana also serves as counsel for both private and corporate fiduciaries, as well as individual and charitable beneficiaries.

A magna cum laude graduate of Montclair State University, Lana obtained her juris doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law while working as a paralegal at a trusts and estates firm. Ms. Shuster is admitted to the Bars of the State of New York and the State of New Jersey and is a member of both the New York State Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association.
