He furthered his legal education by enrolling in the Georgetown University Law Center, where he earned his L.L.M. in Taxation and a Certificate in Estate Planning.

“I view my role as a partner and trusted advisor to my clients- whether they are closely-held businesses or individuals. The goal is to work together for a solution that ultimately benefits my clients on a professional and personal basis. I feel that my socio-economically disadvantaged background provides me with uncommon drive, and enables me to provide my clients with a unique and invaluable perspective.”

Mr. Avelino served for six years on the Board of Directors of Gilda’s Club, a charity designed to assist survivors of cancer and their families. It was developed in honor of late comedienne Gilda Radner. He has also been honored by Trial Lawyers Care for his pro bono work representing clients who were injured in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Among his clients was the acting Chief of Safety of the New York City Fire Department.

Mr. Avelino is currently Chairman of the Overlook Foundation Board of Trustees and is integral in raising money and awareness for projects related to Overlook Hospital located in Summit, New Jersey. While mentoring special needs children in basketball clinics located at the Summit Community Center, Mr. Avelino is also proud to have co-chaired the fundraising committee that was successful in raising the funds to make the renovation of the Summit Community Center a reality. The Summit Community Center services a large senior community, special needs community and under-privileged children of the Summit area.

He is proud of his AV Preeminent® status from Martindale-Hubbell, wherein he was rated 5 out of 5 stars – the organization’s highest possible rating for ethical standards.
