Kinjal Desai is Counsel at Avelino Law, LLP. After earning her B.A. with a double concentration in Economics and Political Science from the University of Michigan, Ms. Desai began the Federal Judicial Honors Program at Pace University School of Law and graduated as a merit scholar, cum laude. She then earned her LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law. With a career foundation built at large New York City and New Jersey law firms, she brings to Avelino Law over a decade of wide-ranging experience in the field of trust and estate planning.

Her practice includes preparing wills; revocable trusts; irrevocable trusts designed to minimize taxes, protect assets, and provide for special needs; durable financial powers of attorney; and health care directives. She is particularly skilled at drafting nuanced provisions that attain clients’ complex estate planning goals.

Drawing on her comprehensive understanding of the estate, inheritance, gift and income taxes, Ms. Desai counsels her clients on the structuring of tax-minimizing lifetime gifts and planning for business succession. She prepares and files all related tax returns and governing documents for corporate entities, such as LLCs.

Ms. Desai advises fiduciaries through all aspects of estate administration. Her sensitive approach enables her to guide families after the death of a loved one while delivering efficient results for the ultimate distribution of assets to the beneficiaries of the estate.
